The Department of Education and Skills wishes to bring to your attention the "Be Winter Ready" 2013-2014 Information Campaign launched on Monday last the 11th November at the National Emergency Coordination Centre in Dublin by Mr. Alan Shatter Minister for Justice, Equality and Defence and Mr.Phil Hogan Minister for the Environment, Community and Local Government.

The main message is to be prepared and know where to find help if you need it.

In this regard the dedicated website www.winterready.ie provides advice under a range of headings one of which is "Schools". Under the heading of "Schools" advice can be found on the following:
• School closures
• Contacting parents
• Making up for lost days
• Junior and Leaving Certificate examinations
• Who to contact for more information
• Contact numbers for local Bus Eireann School Transport Offices
A link to the winter ready website can be found on the home page of the Department of Education and Skills website www.education.ie and also via Esinet.

Advice is also available via Aertel page 592, and, in addition, this year a twitter account @emergencyIE is being launched and the Office of Emergency Planning will be tweeting during the winter period to enhance the "Be Winter Ready" campaign.
